She graduated from The University of Melbourne in 1981 with her Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and Criminology (Honours) and starting her working career with the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 1985 she was appointed as the first Coordinator of the Veterans Home Support Program (VHSP). She later moved into the Managers position of the Rehabilitation Unit at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital working closely with the Gerontology Department. In this role she oversaw the VHSP program, the provision of aids to the Veteran population and the running of the Work Group which was a day program for Veterans run at the hospital.
In 1989 Christine completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Child Psychology. Gaining this qualification she commenced working in Child Protection (DHS) moving later to Specialist Children’s Services (DHS). After being awarded a scholarship to do her Masters in Applied Science (Child Psychology) Christine completed her part-time studies in 1993 while continuing to work at DHS and also establishing her own private practice. Over the next 25 years Christine worked with children, adolescents, families presenting with a range of behavioural, emotional, developmental and educational concerns and gained her specialist registration as an Educational and Developmental psychologist along with membership of the Australian Psychological Society’s College of Educational and Developmental Psychology. Alongside her busy private practice, Christine worked as a consultant with a variety of agencies including OzChild and Lewis and Lewis. She lectured for 2 years at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the field of Early Intervention with children with developmental disabilities.
